Straightened Light PipesIndustrial Fiber Optics' light pipe is an actual optical fiber or waveguide, consisting of a central optical transmitting core and a reflective cladding layer. Our light pipes are flexible optical waveguides made from highly refined, ultra-clean polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) resin, commonly known as acrylic. Unlike optically lossy, rigid injection-molded forms, our light pipes maintain superior optical performance and flexibility. The product is supplied from the manufacturer on spools, which results in a definite curl to the fiber. To address this, our company has developed a specialized process to remove the curl from light pipes. While they may not be perfectly straight, the increased radius of the curl ensures that short lengths of fiber remain effectively straight for optimal use. Bill Noland
